Presentation on an edge-cloud V2X architecture for predictive risk mitigation in heavy commercial vehicles.

This presentation covers the cooperative edge-cloud V2X architecture proposed for predictive risk mitigation in heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs). The work was presented as a short paper at FRUCT 39.

The architecture addresses a core limitation of isolated sensing systems: HCVs face unique safety challenges from their mass, blind spots, and extended braking distances that cannot be fully addressed by local ADAS alone.

The proposed three-layer architecture combines vehicle edge intelligence for immediate local response, V2X cooperative hazard exchange for corridor-level awareness, and cloud-based fleet prediction for proactive risk management.

Simulation-based evaluation across 50 HCVs demonstrated approximately 61% earlier hazard detection and 46% fewer near-collision events compared to local-only ADAS baselines.
